The Solstice was the first renewable, uninterrupted energy supply powered by the sun, introduced in 2014, the first enterprise by the fledgling Weyland Corporation.
It is composed by articulating orbital solar arrays which deliver solar power. Solar sensors are composed of thin film polymer with polycrystalline silicon distribution. The panels imitate a perpetual summer solstice by aligning and moving at an axial tilt in Earth’s orbital plane.
The installation was the first industrialized space mission in history. The energy gathered in the following months makes Peter Weyland his first billion.
The first and only orbiting solar array used today by the governments of the US, UK, Germany, Russia and their colonies, it became a best-selling product meeting over half the energy needs of colonies galaxy-wide thanks to its flexibility in power delivery. It largely serves military power needs.
